Exciting Pet Portrait Opportunity!

Since I started doing the dog colored pencil drawings, I've gotten a few done and displayed at work. There has been a lot of interest from people!
I've already got 5, possibly 7, drawings to do that I will be paid for! And thats just at work, not even the ones i have lined up myself or with help from friends. This is so freaking exciting. I didn't expect to have this much reaction right away!
We finally set the pricing & got a flyer up. I'm going to be selling the 8x12s for $69 and the 11x14s for $99. I'm hoping this isn't too expensive. I don't think it is. From the research I've done and talking to people, it seems like a fair price to me. And also, my bosses are getting commission off of them, for the use of their credit card machine and the "display space" kind of idea, so I have to take that into consideration too.
I love the fact that I have the opportunity to sell my art somewhere & have gotten a response from it already.
I finished the JD picture. It turned out great! I'm very happy with it.

Being Productive!

I am happy to say, I am actually getting some work done! I've gotten a few pieces prepped for starting, I've started sketching out my next piece, I'm finishing the background and finishing touches to my Nelli drawing...I'm so excited!
I've been taking a colored pencil class with my sister and mom for a few months now. Recently I just started a drawing of a dog at my work named Nelli. I'm just about done with it! Once I get a few or the dogs done, the owners o the company I work for are going to let me display them in the lobby for sale! I'm excited about this. Beside loving these dogs and loving doing the drawings of them, hopefully I'll get to make some extra money...which I desperately need to do!

So, wow...it's been a super long time since I've posted anything on here! Not like anyone reads this, but still. I'm bored today, so I'm going to post something! Mwahaha.

There's been a lot going on this year. It's been one messed up one..lots of sadness. But definitely also some awesome happiness.

I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere with myself even though I haven't done that much.

Well, not true. For one thing I am finally settled. I have my own house now, that I love...and I don't have to worry about moving again, yay!

I don't really want to get into a lot of the other stuff. But I do have to say that with being settled and some of the other crap that's happened this year, I think I have mostly figured out what I want and who I want to be and all that. Learned a bunch of stuff...some I didn't think were true, some stuff I didn't want to know, some stuff I guess I already knew but never actually figured out till now. It's all, mostly, been for the best.

I have really been craving more art in my life. I just have to make myself sit down and get to it! I have found out one of my problems is that I have so so so so so many ideas that when I get to doing anything I get stuck the second I try to think about what I want to do. I feel like as soon as I pick up my pencil or brush there's a wall between it and the paper. It's very frustrating. And whenever I have an idea in my head and I actually go to plan something out thinking it will be easier for me later, it makes it worse! I get all perfectionist-like and get angry and frustrated when it's not turning out how I see it in my head. I don't know if a lot of artists are like that..or if it's just me? haha. Not sure, but I totally have to get over that!

Umm...I think I'm done for now. :P

Main Line Animal Rescue donating for tackling Vick

Ok, I just had to write about this...
There is an article about how Main Line Animal Rescue is going to donate 5 bags of dog food to local animal shelters every time Michael Vick gets tackled during this game.
I, personally, don't think it's a bad idea at all! I mean, it's football...so if he's playing, chances are he's going to be getting tackled anyway. And sure, use his mistakes against him to help those in need.
Now, the comments people are leaving on this article are ridiculous!!! I am a huge animal lover, and when I heard about the Vick thing in the first place I thought it was absolutely sick. There are many people saying.."Oh, he did his time, blah blah blah, get over it already." Ok, the bastard did his time, that's fine and dandy for him. But he still has to live with his actions. I'm not trying to compare these horrible things in any way but say a man kills someone, he goes to jail, gets out and everyone is just supposed to totally forget about it? No, he's gonna have to live with that decision he made for the rest of his life...just like anyone else would. Like a child molester, goes to jail, gets out...but hey, he doesn't forget about it either, the guys got to register as a sex offender. Good, he's got to live with it too. I think the same applies to Vick. Yes, he did his time, but it's not going to just disappear from every one's mind just because he's some hot shot football player.
Some are saying.."Oh, you value an animals life over a humans?" Um, no. It's football. He's going to get tackled anyway. Who cares if people are rooting more for that now. It's not like he's going to die from it. Really people??
"Oh, that's really mean-spirited" And Vick wasn't completely malicious and mean-spirited to those poor dogs he forced to fight???
These people just don't understand how hurt animal lovers are by these kinds of things. Every time I hear or see anything about animal fighting, animal abuse, I sincerely get upset. I get pissed and sad, I cry. I feel for animals. They can't speak out for themselves. They do not deserve to be treated as sick entertainment, they don't deserve to be beaten and abused. What kind of person does those kinds of things? Really. I mean, what does that say about your character, about who you are? I'd say if you're doing things like that, you deserve to be beaten down a little yourself, if not physically..then karma is going to be a real bitch for you. You're just kind of asking for it.

Create something beautiful...

So, I saw this little painting in my boss' bathroom that I thought was so cute. It just had a bunch of little random sayings. I figured I'd make my own version of it to hang in my living room. It's not completely done yet but almost! I wanted to put some pictures up of it. :)

I turned it into 3 pieces.

I'm pretty happy with how they have turned out so far. :) I still have to touch up each piece.

I plan on attaching them all together, vertically, with this ribbon:

Some New Ideas

So, I have still been kind of distracted with more pressing matters in my life. Yea, kind of lame, but it's stuff I really need to focus on. I'm going through all this crap with finding a new job. It really sucks. It's so hard to do right now! I've applied to 5 zillion places (I love exaggerating, haha) and it's not turning out so well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best!!!

It's definitely been kind of tough to start on any projects when I'm in this constant state of worry about finding a way to support myself! I have so many ideas, but it's like impossible for me to sit down and concentrate on starting a project!

On another note: some ideas I have!

I want to create some nursery decor!
I have a million ideas on different colors, themes, medias to work with. I have always wanted to get into making baby accessories, decor, and clothing. I used to work at Petit Bateau, a French children's clothing store, and I always loved everything in that store - the styles, colors, themes. I love all the cute little things people are able to buy for their children. And I know one thing people can be very entusiastic about is their children. I want to create things that both parents and children will love and enjoy in their daily lives.

My goal is to get out a bunch of different nursery decor and accessories sometime in the near future!

Wow, it has been a long time since I have posted anything! There has been a lot going on...

For one thing, we're moving! I am super excited about it. Currently my boyfriend Josh and I live in a loft-style apartment. It's getting pretty cramped in here. We've been here for 2 years now and we're just sick of the place. We get to rent a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom house, with a basement and 2 car garage. We're moving in pretty soon, hopefully by next weekend! I can't wait. I can finally have more space to work on all the creative little projects I have been dying to start!

I've wanted to work on more stuff to put online. It's just been impossible. Now I'll have the space to do so. I never realized how much arts and crafts stuff I have until I packed it all up! I have at least 6 boxes or more! I don't know what I'm going to do with it all!!! haha. Well, I can't wait to use it.

Other than moving, I've been looking for a new job. Not so fun...I will hopefully have something this week actually. I applied to this store, got an answer right away about coming to check it out and everything.

Well, I just wanted to give a little update. I'm actually kind of surprised that some people have looked at my blog in the last couple months! But I feel bad because I haven't posted anything new! Once we get all moved in and settled I am hoping to jump back into this and start making things again!!

Nothing like seeing good friends :)

Yesterday I hosted a Lia Sophia jewelry party for my mom, she sells it. There was some awesome jewelry. I got a bunch of stuff :)

I got to see [almost] everyone I used to work with at Petit Bateau: Katie, Hillary, Beth, Ameelia, Natalya. It was great. I miss them all so much! It was so much fun too, I haven't laughed that much in a long time. :) And I don't think I've enjoyed a night so much in a long time. And the time just flew by. We started at 7pm and before you knew it, it was already 10pm! At least I have a reason to see all of them again, to give them their jewelry!

Dinah didn't show, she said she would. I don't know why. I'm going to give her a call a little later to see if everything is ok. Everyone was disappointed.

Mom was telling me I should try selling Lia Sophia jewelry. I am considering it. I planned on getting a second job anyway and it would be a hell of a lot more awesome to do jewelry parties than work retail again! The only thing I'm worried about is actually getting parties. I don't know a ton of people or anything. I work with a woman who can't even pay me, so obviously there's no chance of getting a party there. [sorry, there's a little anger lingering in that.. :/] The other co-workers wouldn't be interested. That just leaves my friends. I invited them all to two parties for my mom so far...I wonder if they'd get sick of it or something...I don't know. I'm going to an opportunity meeting with her next month to learn more. We'll see how it goes.

Today has been an ok day I guess. Did some dishes, walked the dogs - Heidi would not stop barking after getting spooked by a much bigger dog, it was kind of funny. She's such a cutie. I'll have to put a picture up of them. They're both amazingly cute :)

So, I've been thinking I really want to devote more time to my crafts, blog, Etsy & Artfire shops, etc. I'm just doing this as a hobby but I'm really enjoying it!

I've started to develop a little more of a schedule. I want to get more into it! :)

I look at all the successful Etsy shops and it makes me want to get more of my stuff out here too - hoping people will enjoy it as much as I do!

I have been working on some new christmas magnets! Tomorrow I will hopefully be putting them up on Etsy and Artfire. I love them :) I am happy with how they turned out. The little snowman is my favorite!!

Stamps!

I have been working on some of my stamps. I have also been making quite a few magnets that I am very excited about!

This one of my favorite magnets. I love the fabric that was used and I also loved how my stamp turned out on it!! All the backs of the magnets are covered with beautiful scrapbook paper and a magnetic strip. The magnet's strength rating is a 2 out of 10. It's not crazy strong but it can hold up paper on a fridge!

I have so many ideas for more stamps I want to work on!

These magnets were made using a plain yellow fabric. The image is stamped on with paint. Strips of upholstery fabric is used to embellish the magnets a little.

This is just a purpley, mauve colored fabric. The leaf image is stamped on using yellow paint and is embellished with a brown, metallic-like ribbon and painted accents.

I am working on some hot air balloon magnets. They are very cute, if I do say so myself! :)

New stuff

I've been working on some stuff...

I made my first handmade stamps! They didn't turn out too fantastic, but I'll just have to practice! I made one of a swirl with a leaf, another was a weird design and it didn't come out at all like it was supposed to! haha

Also, I have this vinyly fabric that I also made my swirly leafy vines on with chalk! It turned out very nice and I'm pretty excited about it. I put a clear finish on over it to protect it!

I wanted to post pictures up but my camera battery died. :(

First Etsy Purchase

Just now I purchased my first item on Etsy.com!!

I am so excited. Once I discovered this site I fell in love with it. I love handmade things and finding this site was so inspiring. I would love to sell my own things on this site sometime in the near future!

Back to my purchase...I bought a gray linen covered blank book, made by
lmoss. Gray is my favorite color and I absolutely love books. I am a huge fan of journaling and have been doing so for years. This is another lovely journal to add to my collection. They are things I cherish.

I was just so excited that I had to share!! :)
